How to resolve the “A deployment with the same name <deployment_name> already exists” error when creating an Intune Apps for Cloud deployment

SYMPTOMS

When I deploy software using Intune Apps for Cloud, why am I seeing the following error:

A deployment with the same name <deployment_name> already exists.

CAUSE

This message is telling you that you already have a deployment with the same name, settings, and assignments.

RESOLUTION

First, check that you are deploying the correct software with the correct settings and assignments.
